i'm moved by music. i'm one of those thirty somethings that needs, craves, pines for a soundtrack to her everyday life. i was just talking w/ my friend brooke yesterday about how i love that you can send music files w/ your gmail emails, and how wonderful it would be to send a "dear john letter" via email w/ a song attached. (note to self: blog idea: songs to accompany those "dear john" emails.) we both laughed w/ glee.
recently i've found the soundtrack for summer; the dodos/dodo bird, beware of the maniacs.
i saw the two piece band play at minnie wilde a few months ago. i walked into the crowded little store on a thursday night and instantly i was overcome w/ emotion by the sound. of course this had nothing to do w/ a recent break-up 2 hrs earlier. no, nothing of the sort. i was just completely moved. they played the song the ball, and it instantly brought tears to my eyes.
it's really hard to make a band/show atmosphere in a clothing store...but everyone around was entranced. it was hard to ignore the thumping drums, which is a main part of the dodos sound along w/ layered harmonies. i hate making comparisons but they're sort of like iron & wine meet the shins who then meet some hippies in a drum circle, eco-hippies mind you and preferably in dolores park because that takes the whole dirty hippie edge down a notch. pheww. i can't stop listening to it on repeat. it's going to be a fine summer after all.

normally baby talk drives me nuts, but there is something about the way these cats talk that is just hilarious...like for real ROTFLMAO hilariousness (i'm so sorry, forgive me, i get caught up in it all sometimes.). because the website has started to get really popular, through
