today was one of those sunny days in san francisco where everyone is out and although it's monday no
one is ready to relinquish the weekend.
my friend jack says that mondays are the new saturday. i'm ok w/ that considering i'm unemployed at the moment. so depending on how you look at everyday is either a monday or a saturday. kind of like the glass being half empty or half full.
my thoughts on moving back to boston are starting to dwindle. but we'll see as the job hunt goes. it was easy to chalk one up for san francisco after a day like today. which consisted of spending the morning w/ friends at ritual, having lunch on haight street, then stopping by needles & pens on my way home. needles & pens is indicative of san francisco. it's so inspiring to go in there and see all the jewelry, zines and magazines, and books amongst the art. i always leave there re-energized to go home and make something.
at the moment the work up is by david benzler. it's actually coming down this week. but regardless, he has a wide range of pieces up. little installations, framed drawings and collages, watercolors, pen and ink drawings and large (and small) latex on panels. he had some great drawings of teeth and mouths. i loved the portraits in water color and ink on the back of record albums. my favorite, was a pen and ink drawing called 'better bitter". i love when words are used in a clever way. it makes me happy, kind of like how saturdays make me happy. and right now everyday is saturday.
