fonts and texts are a minor fascination of mine. i love when fonts and text are used as art, not just back drop or names of, but as the actual work. i like the idea of the image of the font as the piece itself, and the meaning of the text being an added benefit for the viewer. recently i found liam devowski, on flickr. i love his stuff. really colorful, bittersweet statements.
he also does a lot of prints and drawings of synthesizers, but not average renditions. images that look like a keyboard, a moog and a spaceship morphed into one. i like liam's stuff because it's unexpected. different. but not out there. rainbow like colors inhabit his prints, making them happy and accessible but they tend to have a sad, sardonic side to them as well. which as a heart on my sleeve kind of girl from the east coast, these sorts of sentiments and subject matter scream to me, silently of course.
you can checkout liam's stuff on his website: www.devowski.com or on his flickr page: www.flickr.com/photos/devowski/, where i stole all of these photos w/ liam's gracious permission.
