do you remember when luella first came around? i do. i first saw her in jane magazine way back when the magazine was first new, and in my opinion just bearble. i was still mourning the loss of sassy magazine. oh, sassy...
anyhoo, there was an editiorial page on the new beaded belt she had made. it was all the rage. just a macrame belt w/ plastic beads woven into it...remember that? it also talked about her style and how jealous the editor was of the young student's style. luella had on luis vuitton damier covered booties, black tights a ripped small mini and a green top and of course her new belt. (i can't believe i remember this whole outfit...but i have to tell you, i remember outfits like they're my old friends. no lie.)
well, it's so amazing to see how far she has come. i'm loving her new spring line just shown at london fashion week, she had previously shown in nyc for the past 5 yrs. the spring/summer '08 line takes cues from punk, batman and robin, rock-a-billy and enid from ghost world. (those black glasses on the models personally remind me of my new favorite doyenne.) such an array sounds a bit of a mess, but she pulled it off! everything is so cute and colorful and fun. i would kill for the liberty print raincoat. i love the patterns paired w/ the yellow accessories and cat tees. there were quite a few little purses over the shoulder (been spotting these everywhere and am actively looking for one at thrift stores and on ebay). oh and the shoes and boots! omg. so hot. i love all the variations. oh luella. you are so great.
here's a video from the telegraph in london. it's very short, but you get to see the show in action. there are a couple snips of her talking, but not enough. i would have loved to have heard more...but this will satiate for now.
