it's starting to get a bit breezy here on the east coast. i'm actually kind of surprised at how chilly it has gotten after such hot days last week. but i guess after being away for so long i forget the old adage people throw around here in new england: "if you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes."
i love the fall. everything about it.
i love the smells of fires burning, leaves changing,
the coziness of the the lights on in people's homes at night. i am really excited to be in boston for the fall.
my nieces have their first day back to school tomorrow, and they have been so excited w/ planning on what they will wear. of course fall also reminds me of back to school...which means new clothes.
living on the east coast that means tweeds, knits, plaids, wools, colored tights, many many different fabrics.
i've been keeping an eye on the runways, watching all the styles for fall/winter 2007. so far two of my favorites have been balenciaga and giles deacon. i pretty much love everything from balenciaga. all the colors, stripes, textiles and layers, the big furry caps, the short cropped jkts, w/ the tribal/ethnic scarves. everything in this collection is pretty beautiful. i'm such a fan of scarves. living in san francisco it's basically mandatory to have a scarf on you at all times, all year round. i literally have a laundry basket size full of scarves, no lie. i will miss that.
i don't know much about the new line giles, but i was blown away by the huge chunky, i mean gianormous knits that were all over his collection. the rest of the collection i wasn't too phased by, but wow. those scarves, sweaters, hats, and wraps really intense. not to mention the palette, so lovely. i would just die to be able to get my hands on that size yarn. heavenly.
