ian stevenson has a potty mouth.

ian stevenson has a new print in three color ways that is available at cosh uk.  one has already sold out...so if you are a fan, get on over.  if you aren't familiar w/ ian's work, check out his website.  he's got a great sense of humor, plus the first thing you see on his site is the nicely phrased request: "buy this you cunt." from a happy little blobby guy.  how sweet.

ashley g. and her lovely little bearded fellas.

i'm a sucker for a boy w/ a beard.  i've been like that my whole life, even as a little girl.  ashley goldberg has found out that so are most people it seems.  if you read her blog you'll see that she cannot keep her printed little bearded men in stock.  it's a bearded phenomena or not, actually, just look at them!  would you, could you pass up those handsome fellas? 

keep an eye out, there is an update to her etsy shop on the 27th, w/ promises of little beardos arriving just in time for holiday shopping.  so cute.  also if you are in san francisco this weekend ashley has 5 pieces in the tinyshop show at double punch gallery.

"shake it if you want to hear more."*

i don't know what it is about slightly creeptastic looking art that makes me happy.  i wish i had an answer for you, but i don't.  i know what i like and i just like it.  but don't get me wrong, things can't just be creeptastic and that's it.  they have to have a certain amount of wit and charm.  there needs to be layer and meaning, a brilliance that one can't put their finger on, yet if you look hard enough you almost see it and most def. feel it.

take hannah metz for instance.  her drawings have these flat faced people that stand as if they are run of the mill, everyday, american pie, sears and roebuck catalog looking models.  but something is off, not quite right.  the model-esque ladies, hannah draws stand as if they are super hot and sure of themselves.  but they are far from 'the norm'.  the wonky, gapped teeth.  the large foreheads.  the stubley legs.  the off centered eyes.  yet these are the norms in hannah's drawings and the girls aren't sweatin it, nope they're still rockin' it.  and shouldn't they?  shouldn't we all?  hannah thinks so.  mmmm, that's right, girl, clock in and work.

hannah is a renaissance girlie, check out her website, where you can see her photographs and the models she dolls up when she can.  be on the look out for a t-shirt line that she and her husband, landon metz are working on.  you can purchase her work through her website  or on government clothing.  hannah also has a blog, and a flickr page..so be sure and check all that out too.

tiny showcase rippin it up.

oooohh, tiny showcase is spoiling us this christmas season.  they just posted there winter print collection, it's an unlimited run so you don't have to break that pointer finger clicking away beatin everyone to the punch.  pretty awesome.  there are four prints available from jen corace, ryan jacob smith, catia chien, evan b.harris.  you can buy all four for $100 or individually for $30.  just so you know i have a really great place in my house for all 4 prints.  yep, the ryan jacob smith is gonna look awesome above my bed.  thanks so much ahead of time.
