beauties and the beast.

as i write this i am wearing, along w/ all my regular clothes, a knitted hat, a big ol' scarf, fingerless gloves and my hood is up.  it is freezing up in this piece like you have no idea.  mike swaney's colorful collages brings me warmth and joy into my little heart.  mike was kind enough to send me images that are not on his site at the moment.  when i opened my email and saw the images they certainly brightened my day.  i got a little greedy and added one or two pics that are on his site as well, cause i just couldn't get enough of his wonderful style.  i think you'll agree as you get a gander at his work.  mike's use of color and pattern is perfect.  looking at his work makes me smile.  his use of imagery is vibrant and unexpected.  mike has a bit of cheekiness in his pieces that can be missed if you aren't paying attention.  take for instance his piece novo submuseum, look close enough and you may recognize some of the pieces in this museum.  actually, there are more than a few pieces of art rendered w/ in his 'museums'.  so good.

mike has a few shows coming up.  kick the bucket, a group show w/mike's collective humanfive opens at galeria victor saavedra on january 10th through mid february.  some of the work you see here will be in that show.  humanfive is coming to an end after 8 yrs of going strong.  mike also has a show at space 1026 that opens feb 1st.  you can check out more awesomeness by mike here.
