one of the personal blogs i check on the daily is for me for you. started by two friends to share things they love on the web and in the analogue life. i love the personality and fun on for me for you; stylish, arty and just a balanced amount of girly.

recently kate (the east coast side of the blog) posted about her boyfriend william steinman's work. i love the color and texture of william's work. there is an intensity w/ a raw, sexual undercurrent that is especially dope. his comic flesh grouping is my favorite, hands down. the presence of bright color is just right. super nice balance. william was heavily influenced by graffiti growing up, which later evolved into a passion for pop and contemporary art. i am continually excited by artists who have started out on the street w/ no reference of graffiti in their current work. it's refreshing, dynamic and different. not to mention, considering how popular graffiti and street art are in today's atmosphere, above all bold.

maria forde's actor buttons.

one of my very favorite artists, maria forde has just released a new batch of her actor buttons. i was so excited when i realized a whole new batch! i had bought a bunch of her series of favorite movie buttons, i love them. my favorite being the jerk. but i don't know, this group is pretty special. casey affleck? elliott gould? don knotts? what could be better? each pin is $2 which includes shipping. hit maria up here. i'm buying myself 5, in this order: casey affleck, don knotts, matt dillion, walter mathieu and michael j. fox. which ones are you getting?

hey how's this for late...this print at jen bekman's 20x200 is gone (except for the two large prints) and the show it's featured in orinthology, opened on wednesday night. but hell, how beautiful is this print? but wait. just listen to the name: a dream world glimmers in the background of the soul. oh jeez, hold me. i just love that. it gives me the warm fuzzies. i knew you guys would love this image so i couldn't NOT get it up.

SALE at obsessive consumption!

just want to get this up super quick, as the items over at kate bingman-burt's etsy shop obsessive consumption, are flying out the door. kate and her husband are moving to portland oregon where kate will be teaching. in preparation for the move, kate is having a studio sale this weekend, but being the sweetheart that she is she's gone ahead and uploaded her etsy store to the brims w/ tons of her amazing creations. from pillows to zines to gocco printed pillowcases (which as kate so industriously points out do not need to go on pillows, perhaps a wall hanging instead? smart girl!) to original drawings for those of us that can't make it down to mississippi. but get on it folks, since i started this post things have been selling crazy! tick-tock there goes another one!

marci washington.

i first saw marci washington's work a few yrs ago at receiver gallery in san francisco, and as you can see by her latest images here, i was immediately drawn to the hanting quality of her work. her palette and vibe just really speak to me, i'm mesmerized by marci's ability to paint a darkness that comes over as elegant and not morbid in the slightest. that's a hard task to pull off when looking at her subjects; dead arms, decapitated ladies and cannibals. but marci does it seemlessly. marci is in a group show called cream- from the top, the 7th annual curated exhibit of surfacing new talent emerging from regional graduate arts programs at arts benecia, from july 19th to august 31.
