i had the pleasure of asking shannon rankin to show her beautiful embroidery and gouache paintings at pod, the lifestyle boutique i work at part time. the show opened this past thursday, entitled seaside. it was a wonderful show, and a perfect way to kick off the hot weather here in boston. here's shannon's statement for the show:
at the end of a long and cold winter, living amid the mountains of western maine, i found myself reminiscing about the times i lived near the sea. the “seaside” series is a recent visual exploration of marine life, and other botanical forms that are inspired by the illustrations found in vintage field guides, and my fond memories of living on the coast of maine and cape cod.
shannon just updated her etsy shop w/ a bunch of prints of originals that are currently in the show, and lots of her signature pieces of maps, collages and embroidery pieces. of course her originals are available for sale, if you are interested in more info pls contact me. i apologize about the crappy photos :(.
