i found elisabeth timpone's blog last night after i received a press release from giant robot about an upcoming group show she is part of. her drawings wowed me instantly. i really enjoy the way in which she writes her blog posts as well. saying things like: "when times are tough, squeeze out a song, be fierce and go swimming in the ocean." or "fly with the wind." perfect advice. her sweet sentiments paired w/ her intricate drawings make for a nice blog jaunt for sure. elisabeth's bio describes her work as "whimsicaly obsessive lines and delicate but ferocious images". i asked elisabeth about her drawings and her inspirations:
"my drawings are done in pen and gouache. i love creating a story in my
work even though it might not be obvious. i'm very drawn to the basic
survival of animals whether it be play, birth, hunting, eating, or
interacting with other species."
elisabeth is in the group show, temporary home opening at grny on september 13th w/ kelie bowman, lillie carré and mollie goldstrom.
