jill and saelee have certainly outdone themselves with their fourth annual calendar: gathered together. i just want to climb into each month and break out my barbies and start playing. yikes. ok, enough of my youthful regression here's what the ladies have to say for themselves about it:
in "gathered together," we explore the theme of keeping afloat, both in waters and in spirit of the heart, and tried to illustrate the ultimate triumph of hope and happiness that regenerate from isolation and sudden change. these microcosms of detached yet connected elements remind us that although we may be isolated "islands" at times, we are never truly alone in the world.

recently i have been thinking that i should do performance pieces on the blog. the first one i thought of was to just type the same thing in every post, but still post images from different artists. don't get it? well, that's performance art i suppose. no, but seriously, as i walked my dog tonight i thought about how to open this post about team macho. often times i feel like i say the same thing in different ways in each and every post. same but different as it were. that brought me to thinking about typing the same thing over and over again...because really, i would prefer to say less and less in these blog posts as all i really want to be is a vessel to bring you awesome art. i'd like to be on the side lines, behind the curtain, whispering. until i can figure out how to do that things will proceed as normal. hrrmph.
the fellas that make up team macho just hollered at me about their updated website! YES. nice going boys, you know how to keep us waiting with baited breath. oh and what a delight the site is, complete with 105 images of the collective's incredible work, news, a teaser of a store soon to come and a trade list! yes, if you have some, any of these items you can trade real live art with the boys. how kind and so thoughtful! if you are in toronto on thursday team macho's show kitschy, gay and over in a second opens at magic pony. their work is never to be missed. it's just that good.

fall has just begun and what better way to celebrate, then to shed an old skin and start anew on the first days of such a beautiful season? betsy walton just launched a new version of her website; morning craft. complete with blog, shop, projects and news of upcoming shows and notes of interest. betsy's shop, which links you directly to etsy is brimming over with original art and prints. more work will be added once her current show winter is coming (a group show with meredith dittmar and melissa moss) comes down at lab 101. the above painting is entitled "don't forget your coat.", like i said a perfect way to start the fall season . please check betsy's new website for more details on current and upcoming shows and of course her beautiful work.
