Randy Colosky sent over images from his show that opened last week at Adobe Books in San Francisco. Combining color and symbolism, Randy explored space and suspension of disbelief in his latest work. Inspired by Fort Thunder (an old warehouse space in Providence that was known for it's vibrant show posters) and old Chinese scroll paintings, Randy seemlessly pairs these inspirations together. What I appreciate about Randy's work is his expansion of color. Color is huge these days. HUGE. I can't get enough of it. However rainbows and gems are getting a bit saturated (no pun intended), and Randy's work is heading in a new direction that's fresh and welcome. See the full show here.
Now in it's 4th year, Cats Let Nothing Darken Their Roar, a clever calendar by Noah Bembibre has just been released. It's clean, crisp design would make any room in the house look way smarter than it was before the arrival. A limited edition of 500, printed in 4 colors on matt paper it can be found at The Curiosity Shoppe or through the artist.
Michael Hsiung has uploaded pretty rad gocco prints in his etsy shop. I'm hoping for my sake, and not Michael's they'll last til payday so I can buy one. But no doubt those babies will sell like hotcakes. Insticking with his style and true form, Michael's gocco prints have that old timey flair with a nice side of hilarious. Seriously people, for $10 and $12 a pop these bad larries won't last long.
Paraphernalia is one of the very first jewelry lines I wrote about on the blog a little over a year ago. I had been in the Museum of Fina Arts here in Boston and I saw a girl with the fauna goldfish necklace. It took up a good size of her décolleté and it was AMAZING. I was AMAZED. I had never seen such creative jewelery. And when i say creative, I mean interesting, edgy and stylish. I know, quite a concept right? Well, Paraphernalia knocks it out of the ballpark.
Now a year later, Paraphernalia has opened up their very own shop online, where you can purchase their stunning jewelry, read their blog and look at pics among other things! To celebrate the new shop and two brand new collections, the Fauna bracelets and The Menagerie line, Paraphernalia is offering a discount. Read more here.
