Holy shit. That's pretty much all I can say about Kyle Ranson's new work, with out blathering on like a nincompoop. It's that amazing, I'm speechless. Joyous Marriage opens tonight at Receiver Gallery. I'm completely blown away by the images on Receiver's site. Check it for yourself. Blurb from the press release:

Drawing inspiration from William Blake’s literary work, “The Marriage of Heaven and Hell” and its religious undertones, Ranson brings union to these concepts of ‘good’ and ‘evil’, bringing imagery of both heaven and hell into the confined space of the gallery. The artist’s intensely intricate works embrace the dualities of man and attempt to embrace the beast within, in order to live peacefully in its presence.

I love what You Don't Matter are doing. I want this as a massive poster to hang above my bed, or perhaps in my living room. Hell, I'd wear this come to think of it. Check out their take on Ché. Brilliant.

ali aschman.

I often save things, hundreds of things, to specific bookmarks on my mac as I trapse over the interwebz. Usually I have a method, but sometimes things slip through the cracks...like this print from Ali Aschman and I have no idea where I first saw her work. But I'm itchy after watching NOTORIOUS so I thought I'd post it. I love the old timey-ness combined with the waves, banners and house. Luckily enough for Ali she's vacationing in warm South Africa, but sadly for us her shop is closed til she gets back. However it looks like etsy has added a new feature: you can now sign up to be notified when a seller re-opens their shop. Killer.

Ok, I recently learned something that is so unbelievably adorable that I have to share it...and you must go out and share it with the world. It's a hand hug. It is seriously the cutest thing I have ever heard of. My friend showed me how...and I want you to learn. So here goes, it's simple: high five someone, keep your hand against theirs, keep it flat...then hook your thumb around their hand. Hand HUG! Cutest ever, right?

Right now it's pouring rain on top of snow...and honestly it kind of blows. There are salty lakes of water everywhere making it hard to walk...uh, anywhere. In moments like this it's nice to zone out on beautiful black and white photos of deer beds, water, trees and snow while you are inside warm and away from insaniac weather. I like the starkness Heyward Hart captures in his work. Although the picture of the deer, dead on the side of the road is less than comforting, there is still a strange, quiet beauty to it.
