If only when I drew on magazine pages they could, would look so beautiful as Mary Iverson's. AND have such an awesome sentiment. Her painted "containers" have a haunting quality as they sit way out of place on top of beautiful scenery. By reclaiming pages directly ripped from environmental magazines, Iverson responds to the exploitation of our natural reserves through planting her paint where ever she sees fit. Her invasive containers work as a metaphor within these "stolen" pages. Sadly, my scribbled moustaches, toothless grins and black eyes on the flavor of the month will always be only that, scribbles. Frontier opens on January 22nd at Park Life in SF.
