I wanted to get a post up about
Alexandros Vasmoulakis' show 'Is Everybody Happy' that opened this past weekend at LeBasse Projects for the shear fact that his paintings are sick...and I'd be remiss if didn't. I am feeling everything in his work, from the sign painting hints to the big scary red noses to the super hero nods. It all works perfectly. I'd love to see all the paintings together. Wouldn't you? This is Vasmoulakis' first US solo show.
Vasmoulakis is mostly known by his work in the streets of Athens, Greece
as he has painted on and embellished various buildings across the city
and is expected to do the same here in Los Angeles. While recognized for
his street work, Vasmoulakis' paintings are beginning to reflect the
maturity of his work as an artist.
