Erin M. Riley.

Nothing gets me more excited than when old world techniques are brought forward with new concepts and ideas. Erin M. Riley's work is a perfect example of that. Taking images she has found on the web, Erin reinterprets them through her tactile, hand woven tapestries. I asked Erin to tell us a little bit about her work and process:

"I have been weaving tapestries for almost 6 years. My work stems from issues surrounding family, death, trauma and addiction. I am using trucks and automobiles in place of people because it allows me to detach from the subject manner slightly. In my new work I will be right click>saving (stealing?) pictures off of Facebook, Flickr, Twitter and Google Image Search of humans in situations that make me feel the same way the cars and trucks do. These pictures are enlarged using an overhead projector and woven into tapestries."
