Gina Tuzzi.

Last Spring I had the great opportunity to hang out with John Casey on my yearly visit to SF. He picked me and a few friends up at Bart, taking us on an awesome art crawl all over Oakland. We got to see a ton of amazing art. For some reason or another I lost the pics that I had taken, (I'm actually quite a space cadet, believe it or not.) but I just found them a few days ago! I was quickly reminded of Gina Tuzzi's work when I opened the file. Gina's work was part of the show Young Americans at The Mills College Art Museum. The pictures you see here are of her work from that show. They are just too good to push on over at flickr. I have to post! You can see other images from that trip here.

I recently talked to Gina and asked her what she's up to:

"I just temporarily moved back to the misty mountains of Humboldt County to teach the remaining of the semester's Beginning and Advanced painting courses at Humboldt State University (my alma mater!) I have a recycled lumber loft bed with a desk attached in my new house that I have converted into my new studio space. I've been burning lots of cedar incense in it while listening to Ali Akbar Khan raggas, reading up on my 70's era handmade homes from Woodstock, New York and making drawings of David Crosby's face. Also George Harrison's face."

I don't think life could get any better. Gina currently has work in a show at  Di Rosa Preserve in Napa in a show called: MFA SELECTIONS, A salute to emerging artists from Bay Area Master's of Fine Arts Programs.
