Josie is a self taught painter, (We love that. We do, we do.) who pulls inspiration from all sorts of areas in her life. From wildlife to faded words on old signs, she is moved to capture and translate what she sees and hears into her work. In the last year she has been slowly and meticulously working on paintings that she has come to call 'Untame vs. The Domesticati', where she investigates the themes and symbols relevant in both human and wild life.
Stay tuned for a mini-interview I'll be posting later on in the week with Josie. Until then get a load of her paintings and workspace below. More images after the jump
Josie is not only a talented painter, but can paint a mean, straight line which she demonstrates within her work and through her sign painting (keep scrolling).
A detail shot of the above Elk painting. The circles just pull me in.
An example of Josie's stellar sign painting. You can buy this piece in her etsy shop.
Up close and personal with this guy...it's still in progress, but I was smitten nonetheless.
Josie and her fiance have a beautiful home, this wallpaper was just one of the many beautiful touches throughout the house. It's juxtaposed against a gorgeous, rich eggplant colored wall.
It should be noted that the fleur de lis design in the background of this painting is all hand done. Yes. By HAND.
Another sign painted by herself.
A motorcycle helmut Josie is still working on...those feathers are gorg and Josie is a Renaissance woman.
A sweet Mike Giant print for Cinelli. Josie and her fiance are avid cyclists...stay tuned for info on that in the coming weeks.
The ever lovely Blazer, who was furriest little hostess I have ever met. <3
