I spent a few hours with Richard Colman a little over a week ago in his studio in the Mission district in SF. Walking into his studio was such an incredible experience. There were/are paintings in all forms of progress, tables covered in paint and gold and a beautiful pit bull. I was amazed at the amount of work Rich had. His newer work has color and shapes seeping into every inch of the canvas. I was so taken with everything I had a hard time not just zoning out on all the beauty. I was super stoked that he opened up his studio to me and honestly, I could have stayed there forever. But that would have been weird and plus my iphone got no reception there, so I had to abandon that plan.
Rich's show Keep Out The Light opens on May 22nd at New Image Art. You can see all the unedited images on the blog's flickr page. And as always, more images after the jump.
