One of the very first influential female artists for me, Louise Bourgeois died yesterday at 98. I won't pretend to try and write an eloquent or overly earnest blog post about how such an incredible and talented woman had an impact on me. And no doubt so many people have already covered her death (and life) in a tribute I could never find the words for. What I will say, however is that Ms. Bourgeois did not find the full recognition she deserved until she was well into her 70's. Please keep that in mind when you doubt yourself. Oh and you may also want to know when you find yourself giving in to that crippling doubt that Ms. Bourgeois was still working right up until the day before she was hospitalized. A maverick and inspiration for sure.
