Ok, so I said when I came back that I might mix things up a little. This is one of those times. ;) Also, I just really love using the abbreve LOL, because it's so awful & hilarious all at the same time. Plus, I just made a new category: LOL. Taking this to the nth degree...

ANYWAYS, I love to laugh & I am willing to bet you do too. I shared this video on twitter earlier & I have been laughing about it ever since. And of course sharing it everywhere, so why stop there? Have a good giggle as Jack Vale pranks unsuspecting shoppers at Target. I love good clean fun!

Melissa Loop.

Melissa Loop recently contacted me to show me her paintings and sculptures of saturated colorful utopic worlds she creates through paint & everyday craft, party, and home improvement materials. I loved the color combos and really fell for her sculptures. I asked her to tell me a little bit about her influence & where her work comes from:

"I've become obsessed with making what amounts to my personal fantasy islands. Some are in a state of just coming into being and others are city escapes. For me they are not necessarily happy places, but just places of refuge without any other people where one can go to get away for awhile.  I love to take images off the Internet and collage them into new bizarre retreats out of places that were already supposed to be little utopias."

Nothing To Say: Guerrero Gallery.

I stopped by Guerrero Gallery to check out their latest show, Nothing To Say. A ton of my faves are in the show and you'd think I would have brought my camera with me...but I had a prior engagement. But I think the old iPhone did an alright job. I would have liked to have gotten more pics of everyone's work, but you can see the whole show on GG's site...lot's of good stuff in this show.

Nothing To Say runs through February 5th, 2011.

Seriously in love with this neon piece by Patrick Martinez, detailed here & above. How can you not love a nod to Eric B. & Rakim's Paid in Full when it's done so smoothly?

Kelsey Brookes explosive colorful canvas commanded much attention smack in the middle of the gallery. Everything about this painting is incredible. So much detail..

And one of my very favorites, Erin M. Riley. This lady takes contemporary issues to a whole new level in her art. Hand dyed wool & woven sentiments of the internet times we live in. Always into her work.

Caleb Neelon's installation of hand painted signs from kids at Boston's Boys and Girl's Club. Nice to see my home town & a good friend represent.

Larry Mullins She's OK. Oh, yes she most certainly is. Dense, gorgeous, hand painted signage, YUM.

Mark Wagner's EENEY MEENEY MONEY MOE. Sick detail on this one.

Frohawk Two Feathers brings it with his charged pieces. Always enjoy his work.

I wasn't able to grab a shot of any of Claire Colette's pieces, so I grabbed this one The Best of You,  from the GG site...too beautiful not to post.

Chip Thomas.

I just found Chip Thomas via Fat Cap. So blown away, by his paste ups out in the Arizona and New Mexico deserts, I had to share here. Chip pulls his images from days gone by and while most of his images are paste up images of old photographs, his smaller pieces (birds, corn stalks) are lino cut prints.
