I like the rawness in Christian Herr's work, along with his color and subject choices. There seems to be a lot of care, yet an air of not giving an eff at the same time in his work.
In a recent email, after I asked him to send me images of his painting Parking Lot Marauders (above), he sent me many detailed shots saying: "I get bummed when the big picture misses the details... I strive for the itty bittyist detail." I love that and it shows. It's one of my fave paintings of Christian's.
