This weekend I'm heading to the SFMOMA to see the Francesca Woodman photography exhibit. I have admired her work for years and I'm really looking forward to seeing it in person. It's the first retrospective of her work in 20 years so it's pretty exciting to be able to be around it, physically.
Sadly, Woodman committed suicide at the age of 22 after dealing with on and off bouts of depression. Although she was young when she died, she left an impressive amount of work. Her photography is haunting, beautiful and still relevant 30 years after her death. I'm hoping to be able to take some pics while I'm there. I'll keep you posted.
