will bryant rules. let's just get that out in the open. but too late! it's already out in the open, because anyone who knows will's stuff, knows this to be true. his work is vibrant, bright and full of life. a florescent, magnificent wonder-ocity. (new word, pls give credit when you wiki that. k. thanks.) the boy is a walking burst of typography, design and color. his hand lettering is awesome. his hand drawn t-shirts are like nothing else. here are just some of the spots you can get will's stuff: needles & pens, rare device, good records, w00t and his etsy store. if his visual work isn't enough for you, and you need more as you do in these days and times, check out his music: the hooded deer.

loving betsy walton and her wonderful worlds.

i'm currently crushing on betsy walton's paintings at the moment.  her guoache paintings are colorful, whimsical and hint at a little bit of oddity.  always a fav in my book.  betsy's paintings subjects range from teletubbie like kiddies w/ antlers, moon boots, paper airplanes, and octagonal and hexagonal rainbow filled shapes all co-existing in a colorful world w/ beautiful trees.  i love the painting bird beds (above) w/ the sleepy, birds drifting through on their backs.  super cute.

i have a great big fat crush on australian artists.  the talent in that country is beyond impressive.  i could be really gauche and suggest it must have something to do w/ the water.  but i'll simply just leave that one alone.  i will say that there is an inordinate amount of illustrators and artists that i admire from australia, and the list just seems to grow w/ each day.

i've recently been admiring andrew gordon.  he has a great blog that he recently started.  i've laughed out loud reading it.  he talks candidly yet very modestly about his drawings and the thoughts behind them.  here is an excerpt from august 2nd, where he talks about his process behind the drawing wolf am i!:

"WolfAm I! is the name of a song by mewithoutYou that I was listening to at the time it came to write something on his tshirt, so that's why it says that. Also the bear started out as being a bad guy, until I thought that idea sucked and changed it by adding his hand. So now he is being lead somewhere (or they are lovers. I like both ideas.)."
 

hilarious right?  andrew has a sense of humor and it's clear.  make sure to check his blog out so you can read about his comics based on his roommate's dog who likes to relieve himself on the couch and his roommates reactions or his phase of drawings depicting people eating people.  pretty great stuff.  not to mention the drawings are more than wonderful.  leave him comments about how great he is too.  he'll like that.  you can also check out his website, and he asks that you contact him to discuss projects or simply to have a chat.  not only a talented boy, but thoughtful and kind as well.  so cute.

is there something you want?  something you have been wishing for for quite some time?  well, now you've got help.   marc horwitz and The Center For Improved Living is more than happy to help you.  no wish is too small nor to too big.  marc is more than willing to help.  how sweet.  we need more friends like him.

check out marc's website i need to stop soon.  where you can learn about making your own personal spam, fighting noise w/ noise, what to write if you feel bad about robbing a bank or hitting someone's car.  there are priceless gems on his site.  you'll be mesmerized by all the videos and entries.  or at least i was.  his interactive projects really got me thinking about so much.  in an era when people are encouraged to set themselves apart from others, to be 'individuals' and create a name for themselves i really enjoy marc's and TCFIL's projects.  they create community and bring people together or completely alienate them, depending on the entry you are reading.

log onto TCFIL's webpage everyday and join in on the daily actions where questions like "have you ever been bitten by a snake?", "if you were to 'remote conrtollize' something in your life what would it be?" or "what one word do you think you say once a year?".  not only do you get to wax nostalgically or hypothetically you get to read other's great comments.  plus you can lie and no one will ever know.  and if that's the case, perhaps marc will have a note for you to write when you are found out.
