I'm sitting here listening to Tupac's Keep Ya Head Up (thanks to the folks over at Little Paper Planes), and I'm not gonna lie it's hard to not feel a little doomed/end of days with all the crazy stuff going on in this world. With earthquakes felt on the eastern seaboard all the way from Toronto, sink holes you only thought existed in Choose Your Own Adventure books and horrific and monumental blunders like the oil spill we see in the Gulf of Mexico. I won't lie, I've sat by and watched everything happen...continuing to recycle my plastic thinking I am being a good human. But I know in my heart I could do more. That is why at 5 am, three weeks ago when I was laying in bed staring at the ceiling thinking about those birds I had seen a day earlier on Boston.com, I decided to email a bunch of artists and ask them to join me in making a small contribution to doing what we could.
As I mentioned yesterday, over 80 artists have donated their work. On Monday, June 28th at 12 pm PST (3 pm EST) a Big Cartel Shop will open. It's first come first serve. Prices will range from $15-$350+. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to The Gulf Restoration Network.

As I mentioned last week, I have been organizing a fundraiser with a ton of artists to help benefit The Gulf Restoration Network. Like I said then, I am sickened and saddened by the images we're seeing from the gulf. Nothing down there is going unaffected. So, I decided to use the blog as a platform to do something, albeit small, at least it's something. I've asked a bunch of artists to take part and as of today, there are 83 confirmed artists and print shops donating one hundred percent of the proceeds of their work to benefit The Gulf Restoration Network:

I am honestly so touched with the enthusiasm and energy of the artists involved. There are so many awesome pieces, I had to randomly choose which to post today.
