Recently I have become obsessed with owls, barn owls to be exact. (This photograph did it all for me.) However though I think it's safe to say I'm pretty obsessed with most animals, so naturally I fell in love with Ysé jewelry, right away. My friend Alice of Forest bound first introduced me to Rackk and Ruin when she guest blogged for me in February. I have been a sucker since. R&R's unique style is so dope. Oh jeez. I am such a sucker for jewelry. This ring by St. Kilda makes me swoon. It's the kind of ring if I owned it, I would only wear that piece of jewelry. It's that gorgeous. I have a few pieces of St. Kilda's jewelry, and each piece is so delicate and unique, but totally holds it's own. I am a big fan for sure. If you get the chance they just opened a shop in Brooklyn. Can't wait to go next time I am down in NYC.
My good friend Tracy of Happy Owl Glassworks just recently revamped her website. It looks so rad, I don't know what it is about moss and the woods but I always want to break out my barbies and play. NO LIE. Ok, enough of that craziness, I love Tracy's delicate pendants, especially her new woodland series. Don't get me started on her night lights, perfect gift idea. Jenny Vorwaller makes her jewelry line under the name Natural Historie. The name couldn't be more perfect. Jenny assembles metals, gorgeous stones, charms and coral and pairs them together, effortlessly, naturally. What I admire about her work is the simplistic chic and understated charm that comes with her pieces...all they really need is a white v-neck and a pair of jeans and the outfit is complete. A few weeks back I saw a beautiful bison necklace on the front page of etsy. I checked out the shop of Laurel Hill and immediately fell in love with all of her pieces. I'm not sure what it is about banners, but I love them. What's more is, it's hard to not love banner jewelry that you can have your very own thoughts, words and sayings transcribed by the artist. Laurel's jewelry has a beautiful patina that gives her work an antiquated vibe. As if you needed more reasons to love Laurel's pieces, they can be layered and worn together. Perfect.
Paraphernalia is one of the very first jewelry lines I wrote about on the blog a little over a year ago. I had been in the Museum of Fina Arts here in Boston and I saw a girl with the fauna goldfish necklace. It took up a good size of her décolleté and it was AMAZING. I was AMAZED. I had never seen such creative jewelery. And when i say creative, I mean interesting, edgy and stylish. I know, quite a concept right? Well, Paraphernalia knocks it out of the ballpark.

my good friend helene (who's band you should give a good long listen to, for sure.) sent me a link to kate broughton's etsy site, squealing that she had bought a meerkat and gold crest bird felted brooch while she was on her latest tour. ummm, meerkat? brooch? click! it's true, meerkat brooches are available along with kate's other handmade animals like a hedgehog, chicken, and a ring tailed lemur (a lemur!). those are just a few brooch offerings on her etsy shop, she's also got totes and more. but don't just stop at kate's etsy shop, check out her site where you'll see her illustrations as well. girl has got a talent bone for sure.
ma magasin's etsy shop is subtitled brooch heaven, boy is it ever. she says she's a little obsessed with brooches, i'm okay with that, as i'm pretty obsessed with brooches as well. sarah the nimble hands behind ma magasin is a crafty wiz when it comes to cross stitch. there are so many adorable brooches to pick from i'm not sure which one i like best. however, not only are they cute as all get out they're totally affordable so i don't really need to narrow down my choices. what economic meltdown?
