it's a rainy saturday morning and i'm dragging a bit. i got to get my dogger out and get coffee into these veins fast. but i'm stuck in my room listening to music instead. i'm not sure about you but when it comes to music i have peaks and valleys...some times barren wastelands where i am starving for a good song, then along comes the feast. feast or famine as my gram always said. there is so much good music right now. being on the cusp of spring w/ the crocus struggling to break free of the winter ground, it's such a great feeling to put on an awesome album that makes you want to fling the covers off in the morning!
so this is what's on heavy rotation in my little ipizzle:
the dodo's. visiter. this is the dodo's sophomore effort. i kind of hate that phrase because honestly there is little effort and total ease w/ this album. these guys are from sf and i was luckily enough to see them play in my friends store last year. the little gig was epic! these guys are touring, go see them if you have a chance, for sure. this album is the perfect soundtrack for the beginning of spring. it's wistful, sweet and filled w/ the feeling of hope. some of my favorite tracks: red & purple, fools, and walking. i love this album and i think you will as well. buy the album visiter here.
MGMT. oracular spectacular. ok, this album just rocks. i put on time to pretend at any point in the day and i feel like i can take on the world. cereal. this is the best album to walk around the city if you want to zone out. electric feel has that bouncy 80's feel, i swear i feel like skipping then rocking the kid n' play dance moves when it's on. and probs my favorite on the album is kids. another one that gets me out of bed in the morning and makes me feel like this old world is my oyster! buy the album here.
john vanderslice. emerald city. i saw john vanderslice and his band on thursday and they just brought it. totally stole it. i didn't even stay for stephen malkmus & the jicks. i was so set. i'm a big fan of john's, i just love him. his music always has a great sound to it. he's streaming his whole album on myspace for your listening wonderment. my fav's are kookaburra, the parade and a tablespoon of codeine. but actually i really love the whole album. they're on tour, definitely check them out. buy the album here.
and last but sooo not least...i don't really even need to say much about bon iver cause i already know lots of you are as smitten w/ this fella as i am from your emails! but really, i think the whole world is in love w/ justin. here's a link anywhat to this exceptionally, amazing, beautiful, specimen of a singer songwriter...bon iver! (haha. i'm amping it way up on purpose!)
i'm interested to hear from you guys:
