Tracemyface Designs: new necklaces.

Peacock

You wouldn't know it in these parts but it's actually Spring...and you know what that means, people? More skin. These beautiful laser cut necklaces by Tracemyface Designs are the perfect match to a white v-neck, or anything for that matter. They're both pretty special, as I am partial to both leaves and feathers. If jewelry isn't your thing you should def check out Traci's prints and gig posters or snag that horse diorama. Belle and Sebastian Lyrics? Hell, I'm sold.

The Future Is So Bright.

TheresMagicInThatBarnOverYonder-Preview

The Future Is So Bright opened last week at 666 Gallery, and I was bummed I wasn't able to check it out while I was in SF. But Jillian the curator extraordinaire sent over a bunch of shots of work in the show, exclusively for the blog. SWEET. The show is "a mash up of paint, pen, warm colors and immense joy", featuring Mark Warren Jacques, Timothy Karpinski, Nas Chompas, Kyle Lee and Alexandra Steele. Well I sure as heck can get behind that.

Christopher Davison website update.

Polliwog

Sometimes when I post all I want to say is Hells Yeah. And that is pretty much what I want to say about all the new work up on Christopher Davison's website. EVERY image I was like Oh, Oh, YES. YES. YES. But you don't have to believe me, you can see it for yourself and say hell yes as well.

Studio visit with Lisa Congdon.

Lisadesk

I had the most amazing trip to San Francisco. Not only did I get to take part in curating a super fun show, I got to see so many people and finally meet so many people I've corresponded with through the blog. One of those ladies is Lisa Congdon. I have long admired Lisa for her amazing and inspirational story and talent. So I was really stoked to get to have breakfast with her and then head over to her studio. There was some serious eye candy all over the place! From books (Barry McGee, Thomas Cambell, vintage books...) to lots of doo-dads (wee little mushrooms, clips, flourescent stuff!) and all her paintings and drawings...check em out:

Opening photos of You've Got Light in Your Eyes at N+P.

Lighteyesart3

Wow, what a great night it was at the opening of You've Got Light in Your Eyes at Needles + Pens! The show was a ton of fun. Andrew and Breezy were just the best...such supportive and rad hosts. I was pretty sick or had allergies or the Swine (still not totally sure what was up with me...), the first few days I was there. Breezy took me under her wing and we stayed til the wee hrs hanging the show. Honestly, I couldn't have done it with out that little lady. Andrew being the stellar photographer he is, captured a ton of great shots of the opening night. They appear below...There are a ton more photos, which you can see here, and here (thanks john!)

The turn out was rad, and it was great to see so many old and new friends! The art work is available online to purchase too...so take a wee little stroll over and check it out. If you have any questions about the work, feel free to email me.

New Forest City Rockers: Pizza, Tits & Korea.

Man, I can't get enough of Jay Howell's Forest City Rockers. Here is the latest (Yeah, and it's NSFW for the most part...unless your Boss is deaf and blind):

Interview with Chad Kouri.

****Will Bryant conducted this rad interview last week while I was in SF, check it out****

Chad Kouri is a maker of fine things, a freelancing machine, and a dandy person. You can almost always find him blogging over at The Post Family, screen printing, letter pressing, doodling, and art directing! (He's the man behind Margin Detail). Just recently I had a cyber sit down with this cool fellow.

Reader Love: Milana Braslavsky.

Thelament

I don't know much about Milana Braslavsky, other than she takes photos. Her short but sweet email said to me about her work: "It has the bright colors and dark humor you seem to be into." Hook. Line. Sinker. I am sold. Oh that and she signed her email "Yay". I could probably love her.

Magic

Gareth Roberts hit me up while I was in SF...I like his work, especially his take on magician's hands. Who doesn't want to click on a website that's called OH GEE? Gareth has done a bunch of illustrative work for Dazed and Confused, some of which I have posted here. Check him out. Neat-o.

Lisa Congdon GIVE-A-WAY!

Lisa

Once again Chronicle Books has offered to do a giveaway to three readers of the blog! Sweet deal. This time it's Lisa Congdon's Birch Forest Flexi Journal and Le Forêt Eco-Keepsake notecards. So leave a comment and I will choose three winners on Monday. You are so excited, right? I know you are.

In the meantime check out the new blog Lisa just started, where she shares about her life, art and her little love: Wilfredo. Next week I'll have a studio visit to post as well...while I was in SF (I'm still here!) I got to hang out with Lisa and see her beautiful studio...stay tuned!

Gavin1

Gavin Potenza has updated his portfolio site! It's filled with eye poppin' work. He just recently jumped into the deep end of the freelance pool (without floaties) and he his having the life of his time!

Mister Potenza is a communicative designer living in the fine city of Portland, OR (So many good people there, Hi Kate & Clifton). Gavin works in print, web, and contributes to the blog The Strange Attracter.

The first of Gavin's work that I came across was the JOUG Exhibition -  a collaborative effort with Liz Meyer. (I really like mountains, clouds, outerspace, and triangles. They make me feel something.)

i love bloggy

Today I thought i'd give some blog love and help spread the word about some hot spots on the interwebz.

So here are a few of my favorite blogs (other than this one!) that are run by people I love and have had the privilege to meet in person (which makes reading their blog even better).

Each blog features a fairly diverse range of quality content.
