Know Hope just sent over this time lapse video of him painting in NYC. It's a sweet lil video of him working on one of his signature characters. I love getting to watch people paint, how stoked were the passerby's to get a glimpse of this? So neat.
I think we may actually be getting a summer here in Boston, so I'm gonna take a week here and enjoy it. Tomorrow is a special day and I have a new bike to ride. So you all have a lovely week and I'll see you next Monday...in the meantime take a look at this time lapse video "Let the Outside In" by Caitlin Parker:
"I made a model/dollhouse and put it in my backyard, planted it with northeast native plants and set up a motion camera to capture all of the animals passing through, the plants growing and the carefully constructed house falling apart."
Walrus TV just released a great video/interview with WK Interact. What I find most exciting about the interview is the conversation between KEO and WK and their discussion on what's ok in getting up and going over. I am always interested to hear people's take on the politics of the street...
Currently WK has a show up in Jonathan Levine that's up til the 25th of July. Check out images from the show here.
Damien Weighill just completed his first animated video, co-directed with Steven Wake for Giggle Party's song Jason Bought a Hatchet. BE WARNED...it's NOT for the faint of heart and probs NSFW. But if you don't shudder easily it's pretty hilarious and catchy. Damien said they made sure to cover all the Rock n' Roll cliches: dancing robots, decapitation, Mother Teresa, unicorns, pirates, Hitler and Sir Trevor McDonald.
Walrus TV just post an interview with Tiffany Bozic. Man, that girl is so talented it's mind blowing. The video shows her studio, in action and lots and lots of her sketches. Super inspiring. Tiffany did a q&a for the blog last year, you can read that here.
Here's a video of Know Hope's installation at Carmichael Gallery in LA that opened the beginning of the month. Hmmm, kinda looks like Boston, with all that rain...yet not as gray, way serene and actually nothing like Boston. There was something like 40,000 raindrops cut out for this install.
Woah.
Just saw this video of Swoon over on Wooster. Upper Playground's Walrus TV just posted this on their youtube channel. It's excerpts from their "Run Up" DVD. It's a killer view into Swoon's process.
Know Hope just sent over his video and pics of Through These Vacant Spaces We Can See Anywhere, a recent installation in Rome he did, Italy. His work always moves me, total goosebumps. Stay tuned for some info on Know Hope and others in a show I am curating next month...more on that later. <3
I posted Julia Sonmi Heglund's drawing Sometimes last week and normally I don't post artist's again so closely together...but let's be real the girl has mad style and deserves it. The drawing above is one of my favorites at the moment and can be bought as a t-shirt through Threadless. Check out the video of her talking about the piece, she also whips a rad drawing at the end of the video. It'll be sure to make you sbreak out your drawering tools.
100 days, 100 songs, 100 locations, 100 dances. Let's hear it for the spring people! I can't wait anymore...this latest meme makes me love this life, love creativity and LOVE people just a wee bit more...Come on 2009!
check out this great videojetset graffitti posted of elbow-toe, on the street and in his studio talking about his work and process. i'm very excited for his upcoming show at thinkspace gallery with armsrock that opens december 12th. elbow-toe's latest work is coming over super large, colorful and wicked dynamic. that's right, i said wicked.
