"what do you want for christmas?  maybe a bigger male package?", "where would you find anything better?", "your baby maker needs to be bigger."  any of these sound familiar to you?  these are just some of the subject lines in the spam emails i get.  unlike linzie hunter who has found a creative way of dealing w/ her junk mail, i just delete mine.  linzie has embarked upon an experiment in hand lettering by using her junk mail box and creating her spam one liners.  she takes spam subject lines and makes colorful prints w/ the nonsensical ridiculousness that fills our email boxes daily by the hundreds.  her industrious images are hilarious and you can buy her prints here.

i'm currently loving lisa max's chubby little stickers.  her cute little break dancing people in space suits pretty much rock.  just look at those pink cheeks!  lisa's stickers are pretty dynamic for an impermanent street medium.  they dance, they sew, they hop and look cute enough to eat, what more can we ask for from street art?  i can't decide what my favorite is...i'm always a sucker for a deer, but that boxy little robot is so cute i want to put him in my pocket and take him out when i need a dose of cuteness.

if your like me and grew up reading fairy tales, watching disney movies and patiently waiting each year for the wizard of oz to roll around you'll  relate and appreciate anne-julie aubry's digital prints and paintings.  i am enamored w/ the whimsy in anne-julie's work.  her work has two sides; dark and whimsical.  both are equally as adorable and very sweet.  there is a magical quality to her work that makes me want to visit her subjects in their dark forests and drink tea w/ them and sing w/ the birds.  perhaps that's just me, but her paintings really bring me back to being a little girl when i believed the world was full of magic, glitter and ruby red slippers , not a bad place to be really.

anne-julie was recently featured as a spotlight artist on illustration mundo, and as one of the 16 female illustrators (along w/ other ladies i love, ali j and catherine campbell, go girls!) on dominomag.com by blogger holly decker of decor8.

check out anne-julie's wonderful blog, where she writes in both french and english, it's visually adorable and keeps us up to date on what she is working on.  her etsy shop is filled w/ her signature prints, along w/ buttons, mirrors, bookmarks etc.  also, if you love love love her work and can't wait to purchase a print, skip on over to her website where you can download wallpaper for you 'puter.  don't ever say i'm not lookin' out for you.

smosch.

smosch is an illustrator, avid crocheter, photographer and all around creative lady.  her little butt crack dolls are hysterical and really quite cute.  she's recently stocked her etsy store full of wonderful things.  smosch took advantage of all the fabric she had in the basement and got industrious.  check out her beautifully colorful mats, trays and chopping boards.  don't miss her mini calendars w/ her wonderful illustrations.  each one is so different from the next, you may need all 9, and for a cool $3.50 how could you pass them up?  smosch also has an amazing eye when it comes to photography, be sure to check out here blog where she posts images often.

whooo whooo you lookin at?

i know, i know what a corny title for a blogpost, but i couldn't resist.  check out the owls that kat heyes has been working on.  i love the combination of the subtle greys, sea foam green and beiges w/ the bright bits of color.  owls always seem to have a quiet knowledge about them and kat's owls certainly display that.  these owls aren't available yet, but perhaps if you are nice there will be an etsy store soon w/ prints available, and if your naughty well, you'll just get coal and no one will want you at their holiday party or anywhere near the mistle toe.  keep your eyes on kat's blog for any news about a possible owl shop.  STOP THE PRESS!!! as of today, kat has opened an etsy store for a limited time...so hurry on over.
