flight of the little girls.
nothing gets me more stoked then when an artist takes a traditional craft and tweaks it just a bit and totally owns it. amanda michelle smith works on ceramic slabs that she creates, and then adds glazes, underglazes and lusters. they are pretty amazing and make me wish i had taken ceramics a little more seriously when i was in college. each girl has on the cutest clothes, there is such attention to detail that i find myself wishing i could find that outfit somewhere. her subjects are wearing blue tiger asics, cute vintage dresses, knee highs w/ red pom pons, belts and adorable ankle strap ballet flats. jeez. so cute. check out her website, where her gallery of three yrs of work really shows the progression of 3d-ness (new word!) w/in her work.
