give away & pdf magazine!!

i mentioned a little while back that i was asked to interview hannah stouffer for the twenty 2wo blog pdf magazine. well! it's been launched and you guys can check it out and download it here. i'm really pleased w/ how well the magazine came out, adam did an amazing job. i'm really honored that he asked me to be a part of it! hannah sent me some goodies (two rad totes and little bits!) so to get you all excited about the twenty 2wo magazine and the interview, i'm going to give them away to the two lucky commenters. you know the drill, leave a comment and i'll pick the winner on wednesday! yay! hurry before i decide to keep one for myself, i LOVE the 18k jungle tote bag but the featherweight tote is just as sweet!

colleen sanders.

colleen sanders' intricate paintings of locks, braids and hair are breathtaking. the detail is incredible and so lovely. for some reason if i don't size my images here on the blog, they break the layout on certain computers. which is a huge bummer. so sadly you can't get up close and personal w/ colleen's paintings, but i did size them a little larger than normal just so you can get a better idea at the complete beauty that is colleen's work. also colleen is probs well aware of the limit a computer does to her work, so she sent me a few detail shots. i've marked those as details, just in case you are blind or not that bright, you'll know they're details. i still think you're cute though if you missed that.

kelly lynn raspa.

i am such a sucker for earrings. the bigger the better too. i found kelly lynn raspa's etsy store back in december and honestly i have no idea what took me so long to post. obviously, i'm stupid because her hand made jewelry is AMAZING and needs to be shouted form the rooftops. all of kelly lynn's jewelry is hand made w/ a tiny saw and her tiny hands she says...no laser cutting what so ever. a few of the pieces i am coveting are the ahoy! necklace, the commodore and the leaf me alone earrings and the don't feed the seagulls necklace. i'm also loving her tongue in cheek very punny (har har!) naming of her pieces.

normally i don't post on contemporary sculpture, for no other reason than i don't look for it specifically, so i rarely see work that moves me. i think the last artist i posted on who works w/in sculpture was emily barletta. so note to self, need to open up my research process a little wider. i'll add that to the list of blog things, like get an intern, re-do the lay out and the infinity other things i have going on around this blog. no complaints!

mitra fabian's work grabbed me the minute i saw it. the sculptures themselves are mesmerizing to look at, but when i looked closer...i was absolutely amazed w/ her medium. often just using scotch tape, paper or paper hole re-enforcers, i was really impressed w/ her diligence around these house hold mediums. not only for the sheer fact that she uses such things like scotch tape but the beauty she creates w/ them. stunning.

gretchen wagoner.

gretchen wagoner sent me the sweetest email a few weeks ago introducing me to her work. i couldn't help but love the fact that she has a couple drawings of capybaras. do you have any idea how cute capybaras are? AND they are the world's largest rodent! i'm not sure about you but cute and rodent aren't usually words that go hand in hand in my book. i mean i can appreciate a mouse, i can. but really folks, if you don't know what a capybara is you need to wiki it right this instant. ok, forget it, i did it for you.

ok, this isn't cute overload, let's get back to gretchen. her colors are so beautiful, painting in mauves, browns, beiges, and splashes of turquoise. they're perfect. plus if you're an animal lover gretchen paints and collages everything in the kingdom from wolves to hawks and yes, capybaras! check out her etsy store where you can pick up gocco prints, original paintings and collages and lots of other beautiful works.
