aidan koch for the nurses.

aidan koch recently re-did her website, uploading a bunch of new work. you may remember the post i wrote a few weeks ago on aidan. i originally found aidan's work through aaron chapman, the lead singer of the nurses. aaron contacted me saying that aidan would be doing the art for their next album, that i should check her out. so glad he did...and just look how amazing the album artwork is! you can listen to the nurses here and see aidan's new website here.

catherine campbell.

i'm loving these prints from catherine campbell. catherine was one of the first artists i wrote about on the blog, i have a real fondness for her work. if you aren't familiar with catherine she's got a great blog where you can see everything she's working on and more. both of these prints are available in her esty shop.

GIVEAWAY! handmade nation book.

i got my copy of handmade nation this week in the mail and it is so inspiring! i've carried it everyday with me to and from work pouring over the pages, thinking of all i want to make and the many craft nights i want to plan. the book is beautiful. it's vibrating with color, craft, D.I.Y., creativity and so many great spotlights of people who are out creating and following their dream (so many of our favorites). kate bingaman-burt drew all the illustrations and lettering for the book. the above photos are kate's and were used from her flickr stream.

i just can't say enough good things about this book. i am so inspired by faythe levine, one of the co-writers behind the book (and the lady behind the documentary of the same name), her drive and incredible ability to pull all of this together is hands down AMAZING. she's a dynamo for sure.

elizabeth huey.

elizabeth huey's work is surreal and intoxicating. when i found out that the work i was looking at came about as a result of her fellowship at the smithstonian institution where she studied and investigated imagery surrounding the history of psychiatric medicine in america i was blown away! wow. you have to go to her myspace page to get a better (and way more awesome) look at her work. my little pixel limitations on this here bloggy just, sadly, do her epic work no justice what so ever. sorry, blog to throw you under the bus...but hey it's in the name of art.

elizabeth has a show opening up at quality pictures in pdx, portland in january. along with paintings, included in this post are some photos, collages and source material of elizabeth's. killer.

jessica cannon: website update.

jessica cannon recently updated her website with new work. her goache paintings are some of my absolute favorites. her new work is unexpected yet falls right in line next to my very favorite piece of her's: from a face in my head (which is below this paragraph). i wrote about jessica back in march as well. it's exciting to see the new direction she is moving in.
