As a child Nina Buesing loved horses, spent many an hour in the woods chasing and being at peace with nature and the animals that lived there. In her work, specifically her Fauna series which you see here, she tries and recaptures the magic of childhood, that golden light that many of us still long for and chase. We see it hunted for in film, written word and art. Nina definitely nails that nuance just right. The darkness that permeates her work is right before the dawn it seems, you can almost hear tinkerbell in the background. *tink. tink* Currently Nina lives and works in Manhattan, her series Fauna is an escape hatch for her to feel connected to the natural world. An interesting fact about Nina: she interned for Richard Avedon in the late 90's, just by merely writing him a letter and asking. Goes to show you just have to believe. Rock. it. out. girl.
