Preview of Mike Maxwell's Until The Whistle Blows.

Just got done checking out Mike Maxwell's flickr page of his preview for his upcoming two person show with Paul Chatem at The Shooting Gallery, Until The Whistle Blows. I'm a big fan of the blues and grays Mike uses in his work. It's rad to see the progression of Mike's work in the photostream. The detail of the iron work is so beautiful, I personally really appreciate how he detailed all different sides of the work. Until The Whistle Blows portrays and illustrates each artist's interpretation of the 18th and 19th century Industrial Revolution. It should be a really cohesive, stellar show. The show opens July 11th and I'll post more as the show gets closer I'm sure.

For Me, For You Etsy shop.

The ever adorable and completely sweet Kate Miss of the blog For Me For You has just opened up an Etsy shop. I absolutely love Kate's photographs on her blog. She has now taken her delicate hand drawn font and combined the two. Along with the weekly what what (original drawings), prints and booklets Kate will soon be adding jewelry. I want the I employ magical thinking print, just to hang by my mirror to remind me...Way to go Kate!

Look, I'm not gonna lie to you. I am the type of Aunt that rents my nieces movies I want to see. I get way too into playing house and building legos. And I take my nieces bike riding because I want to ride a bike. (I spent an hour last Christmas setting up Tivo to record all of the Christmas specials for the ENTIRE month of December, for my nieces of course.) Luckily, I am savvy enough to not alienate myself as an adult, but the point is I miss being a kid. I don't want to work. I want to play til the street lights come on, go home, play some more, go to sleep, wake up and do it all over again. Looking at Alex McLeod's work makes me want to chase that stay golden ray. His work is a perfect combo of fun with little sparks of sinister. So sweet. How killer would it be to hang out in his studio for a while?

Evan Crankshaw at Toscanini's.

A friend sent me pics of Evan Crankshaw's work that's up at Toscanini's in Cambridge. Although there are only three paintings, this stuff looks INTENSE. I am not familiar with Evan's work, but I sure as hell want to be.
