Grant Ernhart.

There is a type of photography that I really dig and Grant Ernhart captures it. The best way to describe his photographs: they are punctuation at the end of a sentence. Rooms, homes, backyards, etc that have all been captured minutes after something has taken place. His viewers are left in the wake to guess what may or may not have taken place.

This Long Road.

Crystal Morey was sweet enough to send over images of This Long Road at The Compound Gallery in Oakland, Ca. A three person show where she, Derek Weisberg and Ben Belknap show new work of their own as well as collaborative pieces. Morey, Weisberg and Belknap all attended California College of Arts and Crafts (That's right, I left the 'Craft' in there.), where they met and developed a love for figurative sculpture. Their love comes over loud and clear in this show, be sure to see more work online (and sale) here. This Long Road runs through October 11th.

Caleb Neelon and The Imagination Wall.

I had the pleasure of hanging out with my friend Caleb Neelon yesterday at Children's Hospital while he worked on a super special project; The Imagination Wall. Caleb will be spending the next week and a bit working on two different murals on site smack dab in the foyer of Children's, measuring 7 ft high and 52 ft combined. So far it looks radical.

I have to say, sitting there for an hour and a bit was really an awesome experience. Not only was it great to be around a friend and watch him work, but it was super humbling and touching to see so many of the kids stop and engage with Caleb while he painted. Love these super vibrant and lush archival prints of Geoffrey Ellis' up for grabs over at 20x200. Geoff loves the junk and is no longer allowed to bring anymore home, so he does what any good artist and fanatic would do: he documents. Junk never looked so good.
