Blek Le Rat and ABOVE share the space together at White Walls tomorrow night with Faces In The Mirror and Transitions. Sneak Peek: Shelley Reed.

One of my very favorite Boston painters, Shelley Reed is getting ready for her show, Something is amiss amidst all this beauty and delight at Sears-Peyton Gallery in NYC on May 6th. Shelley sent over a sneak peek of images of a few paintings that will be in the show. I've seen a few of them in person, they're mind blowing. Check out a studio visit I did with Shelley in March here. Some of the paintings you see here were in progress in that post, pretty pretty pretttay good!

Caleb Neelon X MFA Boston.

Over the past year my friend Caleb Neelon has worked with over 125 kids from all over the city of Boston to create "Signs and Symbols," now on display (through September) at the Museum of Fine Arts. The process involved showing children, ages 7-12,  examples of how people have used text throughout history in all shapes and forms of artwork. From 4,000 year old hieroglyphics to a scrolling LED text piece by Jenny Holzer. Caleb may have had more fun than the kids, when asked he remarked his favorite piece by far is "Who farted."

New Print: Tugboat Printshop.

I am in the middle of heading back to Boston to pack up my belongings and move back to San Francisco. I'll be staying in two different sublets for the summer, then hopefully landing a permanent place in September. Looking at this sweet and homey brand new print from Tugboat Printshop makes me realize how badly I will want my own place when the time comes. Tugboat always amazes me with what they do ALL by HAND! What I wouldn't do to just kick back on that little porch with an iced tea in hand and the crickets chirping in the back...

Studio Visit: Jamie Vasta.

One thing I never make any bones about is being a lady and loving girly things such as glitter. I am unabashedly a huge fan of the sparkly flakes. Something else I make no bones about on this blog is my sheer enthusiasm when an artist takes something (like a medium) and turns that mother out in a way that you just don't see very often. That is the stuff that moves me, that gets me out of bed in the morning. Jamie Vasta is one such artist. Painting with glitter, Jamie approaches the medium that is normally relegated to the arts and crafts bungalow in a classic and refined manner, turning the medium into a beautiful and mature palatte. I got to spend some time in her studio yesterday, where she shared with me her latest group of paintings all inspired by Caravaggio paintings. Plus I got to meet a special little lady named Mini Wolf. Take a look...
