Reader Love: Erin Mitchell.

Reader, Erin Mitchell recently reached out to me and I immediately fell for the over all feel and look of her work. I asked her to tell me about her work:

"I've been looking at ideas of dualism/duality, specifically where the body and the individual psyche or conscious overlap or contradict each other and how these wrestling entities combine to create the self and define one's identity. I'm interested in exploring a visual world where the psyche and the physical body struggle for control of how the self appears, acts, and feels. Contrasting themes of chaos and the desire to control, memory acting in the present, and the subconscious versus the actual  continue to float to the surface of my work."

Robert Hardgrave: New Works.

Robert Hargrave's solo show opens tomorrow at Fetherston Gallery in Seattle, WA. Robert was kind enough to send over a preview for us to get a look at. He loosely plays with 'the idea of still life' in this latest body...and I am loving it. His ease in mixing color and form is sumptuous.

Allyson Mellberg-Taylor: New Work.

Allyson Mellberg-Taylor shared a preview of her new work fwith me or her current show, The Lotus Eaters at Galerie LJ. True to Allyson's style she marries subtle creepy perfectly and uses all natural and organic paints to complete the picture.

Confetti System.

I was reminded by a reader recently how awesome and fun and sparkley Confetti System's creations are. Happy inducing, for sure. Also, they are selling 'knot ornaments' with 100% of the proceeds to go to The Red Cross for relief efforts in Japan. (I had no idea they have an online shop! I see a huge gold triangle in my future!)
