Keetra Dean Dixon.

I recently discovered Keetra Dean Dixon via Pakayla Rae Biehn's tumblr. No idea how I missed this talented lady (although I had seen her comforter a few years ago...). Any creative use of words within art knocks my socks off. Dixon's 'Divided Banners' do just that. Be sure to check out her site to see all of her great works, especially these wax sculptures with JK Keller.

Miss Van's "Bailarinas".

Bailarinas, Miss Van's solo show opened last night at Jonathan Levine in NYC. As she promised, Miss Van sent over images to share with us of her studio and the show getting hung. Her signature poupées are dressed in tutus with their bee stung lips and bedroom eyes covered slyly by animal masks - looking as cute and sexy as ever.

Miss Van will also be signing her book "Twinkles" at Cotton Candy Machine on Saturday, May 28th from 7pm - 9pm.

Bailarinas runs through June 25, 2011 at Jonathan Levine Gallery. Also on show is Mars-1 in Gallery II and Gaia in the Project room.

Snooki!

Can we please talk about how great this is? I know people have their issues with Snooki, for what ever reason - I have actually never seen Jersey Shore - but I think this is such a great example of how awesome embroidery is. Also, I think we should have a chat with Ktburrr (I can't find her name!) about why her etsy shop is empty. ;)

Michelle Blade.

This piece by Michelle Blade was attached to an email newsletter from Cinders Gallery and it kind of blew my mind. I had to share it here. It is part of Cinder's show, RESURRECTION. Make sure you check out all the other great work in the show before it comes down.

 

Anna Garforth.

I spotted Anna Garforth on Creature Comforts lasy week and looooooooved her use of the out of the ordinary mediums to create type/fonts. All of her projects are wonderful, it's clear she likes to push herself. But I have to say her Wild at Heart masking tape and chainlink fence project is definitely my favorite.
