On my way home a few weeks ago, I happened upon Lango finishing up a piece of his right around the corner from my house. So glad I caught him in action and realized it was him. It's such an intense, amazing piece -- so much work!

I've toyed with the idea over the past few years of doing a podcast series -- but honestly never found the time to nail it down. But push came to shove a few weeks ago when I was given the opportunity to sit down with graffiti writer and artist Steve Powers. He had come into SF to set up for Sign Your Life Away at Guerrero Gallery and was only going to be in town for a little over two days. So I figured, no time like the present to begin a series I had only given minimal thought to.
I joined Steve and his sister, Maria, for pizza at a noisy bar in the Mission as he took a break from preparing for the show. Although the recording is a little rough and noisy in the backgroud I think you'll find that the converstaion was worth polishing (with my crash course podcast skills) and posting regardless of the noisy bar patrons. We cover a wide range of topics from his youth in Philadelphia to his feelings around graffiti as a crime to having community as an artist. It's a broad convo, but one that I was delighted to be a part of. It was really inspiring to sit down with Steve and hear so much about his history and thoughts around art -- I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Hush "Twin" Opening at New Image Art from G7D on Vimeo.
UK based artist HUSH returns to LA with his show Twin opening this weekend at New Image Art. Continuing to explore graffiti, tagging and street art within this latest group HUSH adds an element of duality - examining and playing with the idea of polarity.

SF based Werehaus shares their latest video; they check out MTN Colors North America and hear the writers’ first hand account of what it means to keep America’s artists supplied. Lots of nice color in there.

I could dive right into these Vectorfunk Rorschach posters from Matt W. Moore. Also love the photography on the below video as a few people get up in Oakland.
