Guererro Gallery had a bunch of really nice pieces for their November show, lots of my faves: Jovi Schnell, Kevin Earl Taylor, Alexis MacKenzie, Cody Hudson, Michelle Blade and more...but I had never heard of Dean Drever before. Knuckle dusters certainly aren't new to the new contemporary scene -- but I have to say I was taken by Drever's. Maybe it was the thought of the words pressed into someone's forehead? Gruesome, I know...but they were so shiny & sharp.
I really dug his take on ACDC, Black Sabbath and Slayer branding. All in all, his work seemed to focus only on some form of branding now that I think about it. I can't wait to see more of his work in the future.
I also had never had the pleasure of seeing Amir Fallah's work in person, founder of Beautiful Decay. That was an electric mesmerizing trip. Lots to look at within his frenetic bouquets. So much good color.
