I managed to make it to the Museum of Craft and Folk Art before E is for Everyone: Celebrating Sister Corita closed. I am so glad I made a point to get there before it finished. The exhibit was so inspiring and moving.
If you aren't familiar with Sister Corita I would highly recommend you reading up on her. An activist and sister of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, she used her silkscreen work to voice her opinion on peace, war, injustice and above all hope -- she's about as bad ass as a nun can be.
Enjoy the pics of the exhibit. You can see more images on the blog's flickr.
"...in such times clowns become witnesses" So many amazing and powerful quotes in this exhibit.
I loved each piece, but this one was my favorite if only because it reminded me of being a kid. I remember seeing this design on tea towels and prints when I was a child.
